Shitty 1st drafts

This tittle made me want to read more. I have not read many things with a swear word in the tittle, but I guess there is a 1st time for everything. I think the author was right when she explained that everyone writes "shitty" 1st drafts, even the greatest authors that we all love, but this did not make me feel better about writing a horrible 1st draft. I think it's because I like to think that once I write something I finish, and it's over. That's how I have come to see writing, as task that I want to finish a.s.a.p., and the idea of having to reread, and then rewrite just make me feel kind of hopeless, and depressed about writing.

I like to believe that a "good" writer has the ability to write, and write well, but this author disagrees, by explaining that very few writers pour out great sentences in their 1st drafts, she even continues to say that the only way that she can write is to write really, really shitty drafts. I guess shes right, however, I would still like to think that great writers just have a talent that the general public lack. Maybe, it's a little bit of both.
