In Class Blogging: My Social Epidemic/Favorite Chapter

If I were to start a social epidemic in my community it would have to getting people to build up their social skills. I know this might sound strange but, I feel like people in this generation a socially challenge, and are unaware of how to communicate with people. Communication has lost its meaning, I think. People only seem to communicate through the use of "facebook" "myspace" "Twitter," and other social networking sites. Also texting is a contributing factor too.

These means of communication were designed to bring people together but I think it does the opposite. People walk pass by each other in the oak grove but then they will facebook you and ask you to be their friend, which does not make any sense to me.

I think that if people were to become more invovled with people outdoors, e.g. when they see them in person vs. over the internet than it would be better. I think I can help tip this by disconnecting social networking sites. I know that it sound drastic but I think the benefits could be drastic and great as well.

I don't know about any of the chapter's being influential however, the first chapter was interesting, because of what Gladwell is expressing. He talks about the three rules of epidemics, which is the first time I have ever heard a theory like the one he suggests. Also, I only chose this chapter because after this chapter he, Gladwell just reinstate his theory and adds some points of examples to help "prove" his idea.
